Aloha!
I'm Lynn Mariano and I am running for the office of Governor. I have a passion for efficiencies and feel strongly that after 60+ years of democrat governance, we're on the wrong track and at a cross roads to fix it. With your vote, we can clean the slate and turn our current negatives into positives - so much so, that we could serve as an example to the Union for how to turn things around. Here's a little about me -
I'm a proud local boy, Kalihi-Palama born & raised. W. R. Farrington High School class of ’74 in the house! My job there as Student Body Treasurer was my first of many ventures in fiscal responsibility. I received my US Army commission from the University of Hawai'i - Manoa's ROTC program and went on to graduate from Chaminade University of Honolulu (CUH) in ‘78 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Business Management.
I retired from the US Army in 1995 as a Major and immediately owned and operated a financial planning business - until I was called to work on several high level, high-speed-low-drag government contracts that were home-based in Washington, DC.
Soon after 9/11, I traveled the US training first responders and was hand-picked to work for the Pentagon Force Protection Agency. I led the upgrade of Pentagon physical security with 21st Century technology. I had five years and a budget of $250M; and I must have done something right because I was awarded the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service, which is the highest Department of Defense award that a civilian can receive.
I then returned home to Hawai'i with my beautiful wife of 43 years, Jade. The plan was to retire. But like many of you, I have witnessed the continued erosion of Hawaii's culture and institutions, and I can no longer stay on the sidelines and watch our Democrat Party continue to serve as the party-of-the-international-developer. It's simply not in me. It would be one thing if our tax dollars went to the betterment of Hawai'i and its people, but I ask our citizens to ask themselves - is our state and the state of its people better after 60+ years of Democrat leadership? The answer is a resounding NO!
Right now I serve as US Indo Pacific Command's Continuity of Operations Program Manager, which means I guide the actions of 200,000+ service members in the region in the event of a natural or manmade disaster. It's rewarding work that would serve me well as Governor of Hawai'i.
